Below are all the official updates and news releases from the group, including meeting invites, research results, and progress with the campaign goals
One of the issues highlighted at the first meeting was vegetation near slip-roads for access onto the A34, as overgrown vegetation (tall grass and overhanging trees and shrubs) result in limited visibility of drivers on the slip-road gaining access onto the A34 dual carriageway. Particular issues were mentioned for the following slip-road junctions:
- Beedon northbound - East Ilsley southbound - East Ilsley northbound - West Ilsley northbound - Chilton southbound It was also highlighted that locals are not certain how to have this issue addressed if and when it occurs again, as this is a common problem. One of the first action points of the A34 Action Group was to: a) Ask Highways England to attend to the current problem areas. b) Communicate the official system for the public to address this issue directly with Highways England in the future. On 31st August Highways England was contacted regarding the overgrown vegetation, and today agreed to send a team out to investigate and clear any overgrown vegetation. Highways England have stated in response to our query that the public can use the following contact details to raise this issue in the future: Contact the Highways England Customer Contact Centre Phone: 0300 123 5000 Email: info@highwaysengland.co.uk
